During those years, the main association with Paris Saint-Germain F.C. was about the recruitment of football stars and marketing influence. Such footballers as Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé gave PSG fame and international recognition. However, many spectators were concerned about the absence of a stable sporting identity for the team since despite its huge investments, PSG had trouble creating balance and collective synergy on the pitch in major European games.
However, now things have changed. The team looks more serious and professional because the emphasis seems to be shifting from the recruitment of stars to the formation of a solid squad. Young talent, collective pressure, and proper identity are becoming increasingly important for the team. This transition means that PSG begins to adopt more sustainable sports policies just like the most successful teams of Europe do.
What strikes me as interesting is that this change is also characteristic of the overall strategy of business. Today’s modern football clubs can no longer afford to rely exclusively on their stars. The key to long-term success is the process of recruiting and developing new players. The strategy of the Parisian club may signal the start of a more advanced project.
